About Me

Your German-English translator Mag. Anita L. Hoffmann

To give you some idea of the person in whose hands you are placing your documents I have put together a few details about my qualifications and professional experience:

I was born and raised in Prestwich (a town near Manchester) in the North West of England. Growing up as the daughter of an Austrian mother and a British father I was extremely fortunate to have been brought up bilingually. While still a young girl, my family and I moved to the south of Austria where I attended the Handelsakademie (a higher-level commercial college).

Later I completed a degree in English, Philosophy, Educational Science and Psychology at Klagenfurt University.

While German became what I consider my "second" native language, English has remained my first native language to this day, the language that was spoken in my family and the language which I make a conscious effort to maintain.

I started working as a freelance translator in 1998, and over the years was able to gain valuable practical translating experience in a broad scope of areas.
